How to do the Due diligence before starting the Interior work?

We know that before Starting clients have all kinds of questions in mind like below:-

  • How to get started?
  • What are different Materials available in the market?
  • What is the right kind of material to be used?
  • How Much does the interiors cost?
  • How much budget should be carried?
  • How Much is the completion time?
  • What are the cost effective ways?
  • Whom to handover the contract?

Material:-

If you want to start the interior work one must be aware of the different plywood/material available in the market and one must be aware of its use at the right place. To know more about you check our blogs on plywood in the blogs section and i promise you wont regret reading them. Once you educate yourself about the Material
you will finish your 50% due diligence. 🙂

One must be aware of the options available to carry out the work in Budget as well as in Luxury segment.

You must be aware of:-

  • Different types of Plywood
  • Different types of Laminates(Budget Segment)
  • Different types of Veneers(Luxury Segment)
  • Difference between Budget and Luxury kitchen

Based on the knowledge you gained about materials you will be in a better position to understand the given quote. As the quote varies from vendor to vendor and the material being used, you can then compare the quotes from different vendors.

Hence ask your Interior designer to give the quote along with material details so that you know what are you paying for.

Cost:-

Clients carry certain budget for the interior work. But are you carrying right budget for it? You must!

Interiors of your home can be done for Rs.5lacs also and same home can be done at Rs.10lacs also. It all depends on how much YOU want to spend on your home interiors.

Also client must not expect the quality of interiors of worth Rs.10lacs to be done in Rs.5 lacs. Also don’t end up paying Rs.10lacs for the interiors of worth Rs.5lacs just because you did not do due diligence properly.:)

Hence feel free to disclose your budget to the interior designer so that he can prepare the quote accordingly. If you are not comfortable disclosing your budget, no
problem at all. Let him give his best quote to you with different options to choose from and then you can decide.

Completion time:-

Completion time for any interior project depends on volume of work. End to end interiors of any average sized 2BHK takes minimum of 2 months for completion. Don’t raise
your eyebrows please. 🙂

Getting the interiors done is a time consuming activity as it requires lots of logistical coordination and manual work and client must be generous with it. We know you
are paying the rent also but this is something which can not be avoided.

Hence ask for the timelines to your vendor and see if you can negotiate the timelines.

Handing over the contract:-

Handover the contract to someone you find promising, experienced, knowledgeable and most importantly co-operative.

You should get along with him well as both of you need to spend next few months together for project execution.

Ask him for his portfolio. If you get to see his work by visiting his on-going sites then nothing like it.
